We Developed Home Vision Ar’s Virtual Concierge Service
Seisan produced a fully functional augmented reality experience for Home Vision AR’s custom application using embedded objects and scanning technology to bring entrepreneurial ideas to vivid and engaging life in real-world environments.
Objective
Construct a functional, accessible augmented reality interface to support short and long term vacation rental properties.
Solution
Seisan built a multifaceted application with custom overlays that incorporates necessary information for renters in a seamless and satisfying way, integrating advanced scanning technology and easy-to-update features.
Working collaboratively with the entrepreneurs at HomeVision AR, Seisan acted as a ground floor partner in the development of this mobile application. Relying on scanning technology that Seisan had previously refined, the companies worked in tandem to create a solution that made sense in a wide variety of venues.
Growing out of previous collaborations on technology development, Seisan worked with the team at HomeVision AR to discover the right niche for their augmented reality concept. Integral in this project development were consistent communication and shared visioning, with Seisan guiding the way in terms of feasibility and function.
Project Overview
HomeVision AR required extended application design, 3D modeling, and interface development. Seisan cooperated closely with leadership at the company to uncover the best niche for this technology, narrowing the possibilities down and helping to mold a vision for the project from a wide range of possibilities.
Originally, the entrepreneurs behind HomeVision AR conceived of a functional safety augmented reality program. This idea was incubated in collaboration with the Seisan team, but eventually, the direction of the project shifted to living spaces rather than commercial property. Fundamentally, this shift grew out of the recognition that accessibility in the rental property was a needed service that the development of AR technology could fill. A virtual concierge service provided a perfect inroad into visualizing interior enhanced augmented reality solutions.
Augmented reality through HomeVision AR provides text-based, audio, and visual information on equipment operation, entertainment, check-in/check-out information, local interest opportunities, local services, and affiliate marketing. The app is available on Google Play and in the Apple store. Information in HomeVision AR is easily updated remotely, and scanning of new properties or rescanning of existing properties can be done on-site by owners or property managers with a straightforward hardware interface.
Though the application is fully functional as is, Seisan continues to collaborate with Vision Solutions to extend and improve the practicality of the technology. Seisan maintains its partnership with this team in the incubation and extension of augmented reality possibilities for this project and for future innovations as part of a wider vision for supportive technology
Technology Details
Seisan created an augmented reality footprint using Unity 3D and Vuforia to support a fully integrated, three-dimensional environment with easy-to-access informational overlays. Amazon Web Services offers supportive integration opportunities in the background, and the scanning technology utilizes Matterport to create digitally realized images of rental spaces.
Unity provides a powerful platform to build 3D objects, including texture, size, and object playback. Coding with the Unity Editor and programming with Unity C# allowed for flexibility in the development process as well as a moldable user interface. As an extension of the Unity platform, Vuforia enables augmented reality capability that includes virtual and real object tracking, six degrees of device freedom in local space, and target reconfiguration possibilities.
Matterport scanning is a simple, accessible means for clients or the Seisan team to create a virtual twin of any indoor space. This technological solution requires little hardware and integrates easily with supportive programming for the management of 3D models of rental spaces, which are then uploaded to the HomeVision AR application.
Information Where & When You Need It
Users can view updates in check-in and check-out processes, as well as important information regarding established rental procedures.
It's Like You Live There
HomeVision AR provides a platform for renters to see equipment operation information seamlessly through live pop-up windows and customized icons.
Results
The application is useful to the end user, the vacation renter, but also offers substantial value to property owners and property managers by streamlining their processes. Easier, more automated processes offer an improved rental experience, but they also save time and resources from the owner and operator perspective.
Real estate agents, builders, and property managers have reported improved renter satisfaction as a result of using the technology. As a leading concierge application, HomeVision AR has been profiled in major rental management publications. Since its launch in 2021, HomeVision AR has expanded to states along the East Coast.
