Seisan developed a fully refactored and modernized React responsive web app allowing clients to collaborate, review and audit shipping invoices, resulting in millions of dollars of savings.

Shipment Trackers use customized software to find delayed shipments through parcel and freight audits, increasing efficiency and saving customers money on wasted shipping costs.

With a combined experience of 145 years, Shipment Trackers assists customers in obtaining the most favorable shipping prices.

Seisan developed a fully revamped and updated React responsive web application that allowed customers to collaborate, review, and audit shipping bills, saving millions of dollars. Enhancements include online status updates, chat, and in-app email allowing STI to onboard new clients more quickly and save more money for its clients in less time.

Project Overview

Distinguishing between modernizing an existing product and introducing an entirely new experience is crucial. Shipment Trackers, though a smaller team, serves significant clients, making it essential to elevate their standards in order to expand their business and process invoices more efficiently.

They required a user-friendly, responsive application designed to meticulously filter and present essential shipment information to their clients. Additionally, it was necessary to implement a detailed control system that dictated the data and functionalities accessible to each user, leading to the establishment of a sophisticated permissions framework that enables clients to determine access based on various parameters.

Seisan created a comprehensive system with functional roles and hierarchical data permissions to address the needs of internal users within the STI team as well as the diverse organizational structures of their clients. This allows both STI and their clients to collaborate seamlessly on the audit and validation of shipping invoices.

Technology Details

The STI project encompassed user experience design, REST API development, and integration with their existing MySQL database. The initiative employed industry-standard tools such as React for the user interface and NestJS for the API functionalities, while also incorporating UI components specifically designed to meet the operational requirements of their workflows.

Seisan collaborated closely with the database administrator and process manager to accurately identify needs and determine the most effective implementation of the systems being developed. The system was customized for the users, automatically saving their preferred dashboard layouts without necessitating any manual saving. Once users established their desired look and feel, it would remain set for their next visit.

Detailed Auditing Capabilities

In order to identify lost savings for delayed shipments, users can examine and audit invoices side by side. They can work with team members in real time, separate the PDFs from the data for use on multiple monitors, and study and allocate funds by any number of General Ledger codes.

Hierarchical Permissions ​

When creating this application, permissions were a major consideration. At the granular level of customer, company, division, location, and carrier, users were given access according to their roles.

Results

In order to create a genuinely amazing application that not only enhanced the prior software but also included features to boost user productivity, Seisan put in a great deal of effort alongside the team leaders at Shipment Trackers. 

The software was praised for its exceptional speed at which it processed and displayed invoices, enabling STI to provide its clients with greater value in a shorter amount of time. In addition to adding additional enhancements per request, Seisan has kept up its support for STI and their application.
